The Cheese World Museum

The Cheese World Museum was established as part of the Cheese World Complex  in the mid 1990’s as a tribute to the western district’s hard working dairy farming families and to promote the contribution the Warrnambool Cheese & Butter Factory has made to the local community since its beginnings in 1888.

The Museum houses an extensive collection of farm implements and house hold items from everyday life in the early 1900’s.

The Museum is open 7 days
Free admission
Monday-Friday 10am-3pm

The Uebergang Collection

A large proportion of these items were provided to the Museum courtesy of the local Uebergang family. This collection was established by fifth generation Allansford farmer Joyce Uebergang as a legacy to her family’s years of working the land at Allansford.

Dave Lee Vintage Engine Collection

Another key display is the Dave Lee Vintage Engine Collection. Contributed by the Lee family, in conjunction with the Warrnambool and District Historical Vehicle Club, the engines were collected by Dave and his son Doug, who both worked as boring contractors and windmill mechanics in South West Victoria.  This museum is open by appointment only or when volunteers are in attendance.

The Ruston Hornsby Engine

The single most impressive part of the collection is the Ruston Hornsby Engine which dominates the entrance to the museum. In its time, this engine has been used to drive generators, saws and a wide range of stone crushing equipment.
